Description
This gorgeous specimen of English fluorite has pure and vivid color, not too dark nor too light, and sharp gemmy twinned clusters to 2.3 cm across. It comes from one of a few remaining productive fluorite mines in England, now mined only for specimens. The quality of the piece is just phenomenal in terms of luster, color, sharpness, and condition. It came from a large and valuable lot bought by Marshall Sussman from the mine to sell at his business based in Tucson during the 2019 mineral shows, and which were originally priced much higher. This piece, selected at the time from at least 200 examples, was one of our favorites in the size and price range. The Queen of Green pocket (from 2018) is regarded as one of the finest discoveries from the quarry in modern times. The final photo shows strong UV fluorescence.
Known provenanceKnowing where your specimen comes from and who owned it adds to its story and value. Good provenance helps prove it's authentic and preserves important details about its discovery.
