Elbaite Tourmaline with Stilbite
San Diego tourmalines have, rarely, come out with associated zeolite minerals such as stilbite. It is extremely uncommon, but it has happened. This classic specimen with deep, saturated color and a green cap, came out in the middle of the Larson era of Himalaya Mine ownership, in the 1980s. It was in his collection, then Irv Brown's collection. It has no repairs or restoration and should be one of the very best aesthetic examples of this combination from the important mine; and certainly is an excellent example in its size class for any American origin tourmaline. It is complete all around, a "floater". Please note, the colors of Himalaya Mine tourmalines do significantly change in sunlight vs. LED vs. room lighting. The photos here are taken with standard halogen lights, and the video in a standard LED light box. It looks naturally good with strong color even in normal overhead room lights though, which is rare for this style - but the hot pink really pops in studio lighting. 80 grams.
