This is one of the prime examples of the classic and much sought after red Vanadinite on white Baryte from Morocco of a particularly classic style from the 1980s. This is a superb example of the style from one of the best pockets, known for its combination and contrast of species. It is a gorgeous small cabinet piece composed of a plate of off-white Baryte blades topped by gemmy to translucent, brilliant red Vanadinite crystals that are nicely isolated to slightly clustered with crystals from 1.5 mm to 1 cm all with super high luster. The off-white, bladed, crystalline Baryte matrix provides optimum contrast for the fiery red, exceptionally well-formed, hexagonal Vanadinite crystals. Some of the Vanadinite crystals display fiery red-orange flashes internally. An incredible small cabinet piece from the world's classic locality for the species and formerly in the collection of Steve Smale, a collector long noted (at 93, still going strong!) for his superb taste in aesthetics.
