This is a prime example of the classic and much sought after red Vanadinite on Hollandite encrusted Baryte from Morocco, one of the most classic and robust, impactful styles out of all the pockets and styles found over decades here. It is a piece from the 1980s, that has been through several local collections in Texas. It is a gorgeous cabinet piece composed of a large plate of white Bayte that has been almost completely coated with charcoal gray Hollandite and then subsequently draped with numerous relatively large, dark translucent red Vanadinite crystals to 1.2 cm and of a very robust form, combined with deep color. Displayed vertically or horizontally, it is dramatic and stands out from any modern production - which tend to be mounded masses, without this kind of character and contrast overall. The red on black background makes both the color and the geometry "pop" out.The display face wraps completely around the sides with least 100 super lustrous, fiery rich red, translucent to locally gemmy, hexagonal Vanadinite crystals from 2 mm to 1.2 cm. Some of the Vanadinite crystals display fiery red-orange internal flashes. An incredible geometric array of of crystals from the world's classic locality for the species, and NOT a common example. Also, a large size to be free of damage after 40 years out of the ground.
