TINZENITE with SURSASSITE and Quartz
Although only a small manganese mine, the Molinello mine in the Ne Valley of Liguria, Italy, has become famous for being the type locality to ten species; annoyingly, none of which occur on this specimen! But don’t be disheartened as two rare minerals are present, Tinzenite and Sursassite. Tinzenite is a calcium-manganese-aluminium borosilicate and Sursassite a manganese-aluminium silicate. Richly coating a matrix of Quartz and dark grey country rock, the Tinzenite forms as curved, apricot orange blades and the Sursassite as pale bronze to greyish cream acicular clusters. A fine combination of two very rare minerals from the Molinello mine in Italy.\n
