A charming, small cabinet specimen of teal blue Baryte with two groups of reddish-tinged creamy Dolomite crystals. The only attributed locality is that of the mining district around Frizington in west Cumbria; typical of perhaps the majority of specimens from this iron mining region to which specific mines went unrecorded. The Baryte forms a parallel pair of double terminated crystals, each 6.5 cm long and as these are slightly offset, the overall length is 7.6 cm. The Baryte varies from reasonably gemmy to translucent and glued to one crystal is a very old-looking label bearing the number 314. Although the terminations appear natural, that of the protruding crystal appears to have been cleaved, based on the termination’s surface features and patchy interference colours. It's a lovely specimen and comes with two previous labels, one from the Mike Brooke Collection.
