This large cabinet specimen from Obdulia Vein at Emilio mine, Colunga District, Asturias, Spain is a perfect example of the extremely rare "cube+hexoctahedron" habit combination in Fluorite crystal form. In fact, it is so significant that it was figured in Arvid Pasto's 2009 book: "Collector's Guide to Fluorite", albeit as a closeup image (Fig. 19, page 17), and was specimen number AEP987 in his collection. Not only is it a crystallographic wonder, but it is large, and the crystals don't require any magnification to see their detail. The largest Fluorite crystal is 2.5 cm on edge and all are colourless, glassy and transparent. Most of the display surface crystals are pristine, with just one with a cleaved corner, but this is almost invisible due to the colourless glassy appearance of the crystal. A supremely fine, large Spanish Fluorite with fine pedigree and remarkable crystal form.
