The Mindat page shows an excellent photo by Gunter Grundmann of the Teufelsmühle and to put it mildly, it appears one mighty difficult locality to reach! This wonderful cabinet specimen of Titanite with Rutile, Actinolite and Adularia is from the famous Alpine fissures found within the Teufelsmühle, a mountain in the Habach valley within the State of Salzburg, Austria. Wow, what a specimen to find and something most of us can only dream about! The 9.5 x 7.0 cm shard of matrix is entirely coated in crystals in sizes from micro to over 1 cm and shows no point of attachment, indicating it is a floater. The stars of the show are the gemmy lime-green Titanite crystals which richly cover a groundmass of creamy white Adularia crystals; Adularia being a transparent variety of potassium Feldspar (K Feldspar). The Titanite crystals are developed up to about 1.2 cm and form highly reflective glassy blades. Rutile crystals richly cover the upper half of the display face. On the opposite side, fine needle-like acicular Actinolite crystals are scattered over the Feldspar. A fabulous Alpine specimen.
