Tucson, Arizona, USAMacquartite is known from just one locality - Mammoth-Saint Anthony mine, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA - where it was discovered in 1980. This miniature specimen has a rather strange assemblage, or paragenesis, of minerals, but within it is Macquartite. The most obvious part of the specimen is an open, Quartz-lined cavity, containing an 8 x 8 mm aggregate of gemmy, platy/tabular Cerussite crystals upon which are scattered tiny colourless bipyramidal Quartz crystals. This cavity is within a copper-rich siliceous matrix of Chrysocolla, and it is actually the Chrysocolla on the reverse of the specimen where the Macquartite is to be seen, as inclusions of tiny yellow acicular crystals and sprays. A microscope is required to appreciate the Macquartite, but several small patches are visible.
