Goyazite is a rare strontium-aluminium double phosphate hydrate and occurs as well developed, white resinous to pearly crystals in this excellent miniature. From Rapid Creek in the Dawson Mining District of Yukon, Canada, the Goyazite crystals sit amongst translucent golden toffee Siderite crystals on top of a Siderite-rich ironstone matrix. Due to its remoteness and adverse winters, the presence of phosphates in Yukon went unrecognised until the discovery of Lazulite by Bruce Cameron in 1959 in the Blow River area of northeastern Yukon. However it was not until fifteen years later in 1974 when Alan Kulan discovered Lazulite along Rapid Creek.
