A single crystal of Gadolinite-(Y) from one of the two Microcline pegmatite quarries at H'ydalen in the Telemark region of Norway. Gadolinite-(Y) is a yttrium-rich iron beryllium silicate and this fine example displays many faces of a black opaque crystal protruding from a white Microcline and milky Quartz pegmatite matrix. The exposed part of the crystal measures approximately 9 x 8 x 5 mm and is opaque black with a dull waxy lustre. It is accompanied with the previous collector's label.
