Hematite var. Kidney Ore$300.00

Wire transfers available, to set up
A small cabinet specimen of stalactitic botryoidal hematite from a very unusual locality within the west Cumbrian iron mining district. A mass of fine-grained clustered stalactitic hematite, partially intergrown with calcite, progresses upwards (or downwards if it is a true stalactite) into a larger stalactite coated in distinctive small botryoids or carbuncles. Distinctive both in terms of its form and also the shades of colour, which grade into shades of orange. From Devonshire Quarry at Stainton near Dalton-in-Furness.
