A super miniature specimen of rarely available Kovdorskite crystals from the Type Locality at Kovdor Zheleznyi mine, Kovdor Massif, Kola Peninsula, Murmanskaja Oblast', Russia. The mine actually produces high-grade iron ore (Magnetite), but there are associated phosphates within which rare species occur, including Kovdorskite, a magnesium phosphate hydrate hydroxide. In this specimen Kovdorskite forms glassy pale pink prismatic crystals to over 2.4 cm in length growing up from similar, but glassy white, Kovdorskite on a thin dark layer of matrix. Considering its relatively simple chemistry, this species is only known from two places in the world and in good crystals at only one. This is an excellent example of its crystal form, in large crystals for the species, and with the lovely pink colour.
