Pyromorphite
The Pyromorphite found at Hard Rigg Edge occurs in small dumps associated with a small trial and shaft. It is often of a distinctive green colour and this is a really rich and good example. Mid pistachio green, manifesting as an understated spring leaf green, covers two opposite faces of an iron-rich rusty matrix which also displays small, lustrous black spheres of Goethite. Although the maximum length of the Pyromorphite crystals is only about 1 mm, the overall specimen is a delight, viewed either close to with a loupe or from a distance. Hard Rigg Edge is situated on Melmerby Fell within the Alston Moor district of east Cumbria, England.\n
