Hydrocerussite
Unknown Owner
A classic slightly rosetted aggregate (1 cm wide) of white platy Hydrocerussite crystals sits alongside several euhedral orthorhombic Anglesite crystals (to 4 mm in length) within a Calcite-lined cavity in manganese oxide matrix from Torr Works quarry (aka Merehead quarry) in the Mendip Hills, Somerset. The specimen has a sawn base and bruising around the edges of the Calcite-lined cavity, but the Hydrocerussite aggregate is in good overall condition, with just the very slightest of scuffing. Ex John Jones collection (no. 81044), with his label recording that it was collected in 1981.
