Fluorite
Known for centuries, the European Alps are the classic region for octahedral pink Fluorite crystals, found in precarious fissures high up in the mountains. Most are off-matrix, having been dislodged during extraction, or display some damage. Others lack an intensity in colour. This stunning cabinet specimen from Göscheneralp, Uri, Switzerland is a beauty. Six, almost identical, well-formed 1 cm bright pink octahedral Fluorite crystals are spread out across a flat plate coated in tiny Quartz crystals. Normally, one pink octahedral Fluorite would be enough, but if you demand more then this will surely be for you. The aesthetics are wonderful and simply shout "Alps". A remarkable specimen either for an advanced Fluorite collection, or a premium Alpine suite.
