Brandtite is a very rare hydrated calcium manganese arsenate first described, in 1888, from the Harstigen mine, Pajsberg, Persberg District, Filipstad, Värmland, Sweden. This specimen, from Harstigen mine, is an unusually large, cabinet-sized display specimen, featuring Brandtite as white crystals on the surface of orange-brown Caryopilite. The Brandtite forms larger, white to pale cream coloured, 3 to 5 mm long, fan-like to bow-tie crystal sprays as well as snow-white sub mm spherical microcrystals. Harstigen mine is a remarkable deposit: nothing more than a small iron-manganese trial, it the Type Locality of a staggering 12 mineral species. This is an extremely rich, and large, specimen of Brandtite from the Type Locality and with two distinct crystal forms displayed.
