Cinnabar

A rare locality Cinnabar from Germany. This dense, mostly massive miniature aggregate of red Cinnabar is accompanied by four previous collection labels at least two of which have significant age to them. These labels relate to an old typed number label (no. 1985) attached to the specimen and document that it comes from Kirchheimbolanden, Donnersbergkreis, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The most recent label questions whether this specimen might specifically be from Mörsfeld. Specimens of Cinnabar from Kirchheimbolanden are rarely seen for sale, and although small, the combination of old labels makes it quite significant indeed.
