A nice rounded botryoidal mass of dense, pure Hematite, of the variety known as "Kidney Ore" from the lesser known Yarlside mines near Barrow-in-Furness. The display surface shows good form and has not been overly polished. One end of the display surface is the typical smooth botryoids and the other more stippled with tiny bumps. The underneath is not made up of the usual banded fibrous layers, but has smooth scalloped edges and has a small hollow opening at its core. A great example from a rare locality. Comes with an old handwritten label documenting its provenance to the Yarlside mines. Due to its weight an additional postage charge may be required.
