Description
This miniature is an outstanding example of the aluminium phosphate Wavellite from Reust mine in Thuringia, Germany. This mine lies within the Ronneburg Uranium deposit although uranium minerals are not recorded from here in mindat. This mine is well known for it fine Wavellite and this is a showy specimen composed of four spherical clusters of leaf to deeper forest green Wavellite with a bright glassy lustre. The specimen is presented on a square, colourless acrylic base. Wavellite is frequently encountered as flattened sections of radial acicular crystals, but is highly prized when occurring in complete spherical crystal aggregates.
