Okorusu mine, Otjiwarongo District, Namibia has, over the years, produced some simply breathtaking Fluorite specimens. As a commercial industrial Fluorite producer it is remarkable how many stunning specimens get rescued but that is testment to the pragmatic approach taken by the mining company. This cabinet specimen is up there with the finest in terms of colour and optical quality, presenting a superb blackcurrant purple colour, supremely glassy surfaces to the cubic crystals and exceptional internal zonation showing through when backlit. Individual cubic crystals reach 2.5 cm on edge. There does appear to be some cleavage damage to a couple of the corners of crystals, but for overall size and presentation this is a real beauty.
