Tucson, Arizona, USALinarite is one of the classic mineral species for which the Caldbeck Fells is renowned and the best specimens came from Red Gill mine. This lovely rich miniature specimen from Red Gill mine has passed through a number of well-known collections. A detailed collection card from the German rare-species collector Dr Hans-Jurgen Wilke (1925-2014) reveals that he obtained it in 1966 from Prof. Huttenhain at Bergakademie Clausthal-Zellerfeld. From Dr Wilke it then passed to Dr Eduard Lopatka in Austria. An old small handwritten display label bearing the number 3139 is probably from its time at the Bergakademie. A very nice Red Gill Linarite.
