This is a most remarkable and unusual specimen of Diaspore from the classic locality in Selçuk District, Izmir Province, Turkey. It is certainly not the largest of specimens from here, but the complexity of its crystallization is a fascinating study. It is not just a simple V-shaped twin, but the striated prisms are repeatedly twinned to produce a 'window' with triangular outer edges. The Diaspore varies from transparent to translucent with a shimmering lustre. All surfaces are brightly reflective with almost a metallic lustre. A most aesthetic miniature specimen of excellent Diaspore crystals from Turkey.
