Scheelite
A terrific small miniature of apricot-tinged, golden toffee Scheelite crystals covers one face of a square Quartz vein section; the opposite face is covered with iron-stained Quartz crystals. The Scheelite, a calcium tungstate, forms partly exposed, truncated octagonal crystals with modified bevelled edges and sometimes flattened terminations. The Scheelite crystals are developed up to 1.4 cm across and form a tight translucent, lustrous cluster. The specimen is from the Tenkergin mine in the Iul'tinskiy Complex in the Far-Eastern Region of Russia. The mine is so far east it appears close to Alaska, yet is probably still 1000 km away! Under SWUV some of the Scheelite fluoresces a dull, ethereal creamy-white, very ghostly indeed!
