Wurtzite with Pyrite
Unknown Owner
A superb, rare example of Wurtzite crystals on Pyrite with a little Quartz from the famous Leonard mine, Butte, Montana, USA. The Wurtzite forms dark grey to black spherical aggregates (typically 3 to 4 mm across, but some to over 5 mm) composed of tightly clustered parallel platy crystals upon pyritohedron-shaped Pyrite crystals on a bed of massive to fine-grained Pyrite. Some of the higher Wurtzite aggregates have been bruised, but most are in great condition. Their form is best appreciated using magnification. The specimen is accompanied by one previous collection label.
