Dioptase
Unknown Owner
A large thumbnail to small miniature aggregate of intergrown, glassy, deep emerald-green prismatic Dioptase crystals from Tsumeb mine, displaying the classic form with rhombic faces. The largest crystal measures over 1.6 cm in length and spans the centre of the specimen with another large crystal growing out from one side. This second, large crystal, has some noticeable chips along one edge of its termination, otherwise the rest of the crystals are in excellent shape. The colour and lustre of the Dioptase crystals is wonderfully intense, as one would expect for Tsumeb, but some of the crystals have internal inclusions from the small amount of matrix.
