Tucson, Arizona, USAAnyone who has visited Roughton Gill knows what a vast area it covers and consequently the habit and colour of its Pyromorphite changes considerably along the course of its extensive vein network. Roughton Gill dominates the northern half of the Caldbeck Fells in Cumbria, England. This excellent cabinet specimen, richly covered with vibrant lime to pastel peppermint green acicular crystals is likely from either Roughton Gill mine or Iron Crags, based on its colour, habit and highly porous Quartz veinstone matrix, with the texture and structure of a kitchen sponge. The acicular crystals form as individuals, radial clusters and sheet-like parallel arrays with the occasional more prismatic crystal here and there. It comes with a Mike Brooke and an early Crystal Classics (The Old Linhay) labels.
