Tucson, Arizona, USAHerderite is usually found as a pegmatite mineral, formed during late-stage hydrothermal deposition and is a calcium-beryllium phosphate containing fluoride. Herderite forms is one end member of the Herderite-Hydroxylherderite Series and it is suspected that most specimens, no matter from which locality are likely Hydroxylherderite despite being labelled Herderite. This beautiful miniature if formed of intergrown, pseudohexagonal pale salmon pink to cream Herderite crystals, without matrix and occurring with Muscovite. This is a first class example of the species although, as said, may possibly be partly Hydroxylherderite.
