Enargite is one of Holy Grail mineral species for Butte and this is a rich specimen with sharp crystals stunningly displayed as 3-dimensional metallic sculptures leaping up off of rounded Djurleite aggregates. The brilliant, metallic gray Enargite crystals to 2 cm are complemented by closely-packed and almost botryoidal aggregates of gray Djurleite that are set on what appears to be massive Enargite, indicating they are late in the paragenetic sequence. The Enargites are well-formed and textbook in shape with mesmerizing striae parallel to their length with great terminations. This excellent small cabinet piece is from the famous Leonard Mine - and is very good and very unusual for the locale. It originates from the Herb Obodda collection and has his label.
