A single, dramatic, gorgeous tourmaline from the famous Camp Robin region of Madagascar, this is the rare variety of tourmaline referred to as Liddicoatite. It has a look and feel to it of the famous old Liddicoatites from the old days....1990s and early 2000s, because it is from that period; and it actually comes out of an old Italian collection assembled in those early days. This strong red color with tones of orange, is classic! It is 115 grams and complete all around, with no repairs (and only two very very minor, shallow restorations - one near top and one at the very bottom that was not really needed). Luster, color, size...all good. What really sets this to another level, however, is that it is actually doubly terminated, complete on both ends! The bottom termination is also complete, and lustrous. According to Google: Liddicoatite, a calcium-rich lithium tourmaline, was recognized as a separate mineral species in 1977, and named in honor of Richard T. Liddicoat.
