This richly SATURATED cobalt blue Fluorite specimen with white centers and a purple tinge along the edges is from Poggio Balate, Sicily. It is mostly formed of cubic crystals with some stepped cubes. The largest cube is 3.5 x 3.0 x 3.0 cm. A number of faces have a preferential partial fluorite growth final phase which may be causing slight purple flashes. The blue hue varies depending on lighting but shows its most brilliant color under cool LED lights. The piece is in good condition with noted contacts on the back and bottom. There is a partial in-pocket fracture that results in a very cool unique feature of an open linear fissure through two of the cubes. The specimen displays a purple fluorescence under UV lighting. This famous locale is known for its blue fluorites but they are seldom on the market. This specimen is from 2019-2020 finds and is a rare opportunity to add a beautiful blue zoned Fluorite from a unique locale.
