Garnets from Pakistan are generally not thought of as the world's best spessartines to top collectors of larger specimens, and the reason is that large crystals get big, dark, and crackly in appearance. However, they DO have sharp form, and in smaller sizes can have unbelievably high luster and eye appeal. So, some choice thumbnails can exist, when choice larger specimens are almost unheard of in this quality. This particular specimen is like a jewel, with a perfect 1.5 cm tall garnet perched on a bit of feldspar matrix (partially crystallized), for stunning contrast. It is complete all around, save a small contact in back.
