Apatite of course comes in a huge array of colors and shapes, but this, the Paraiba-blue apatite from the same place that produced the Paraiba tourmalines, is considered one of the absolute rarest of styles and colors, particularly in such quality this sparkling, complete-all around small cabinet specimen came out in the early 2000s and was in the collection of William "Bill" Larson until recently, when it came to us. It features shocking, intense blue crystals to 1.2 cm, and there are dozens of them for a huge visual effect. This is the best color you can ask for in the material, with high luster and good size and richness as few specimens ever reached this kind of size and coverage. It is a rare treasure of Brazil, somewhat unusual and unexpected compared to what we usually see. Good specimens only will turn up as the finest collections of the people active in the early 2000s are recycled to market.
