Medina in the Minas Gerais Gem Province of Brazil, is well known for Aquamarines over time among mineral collectors. However, it ALSO produced some few pockets of heliodor, although much more rarely than aquamarine. The best pocket was in the late 1990s, we believe 1998, and had color like this. This is one such, showing a classic coloration of saturated golden-yellow hue, and some natural gradation from the tip downward. Such crystals are almost never available. Few enough existed to begin with because so much material from this mine is cutting grade, and therefore is cut for gems. This, as well, is transparent and cuttable (at 42.75 cts it has mass but is a little slender for a big gem value yield) - absolutely gemmy and clean. The termination is razor sharp. The specimen comes, free, with an included cut gem from the same location (12.05 cts). This is a rare locality specimen from the long held beryls collection case of Pala Intl, assembled by Bill Larson and his team since the 1980s.
