This truly iconic miniature has the style, color, contrast, and aesthetics you would want all in one specimen. Strong almost neon blue - my personal favorite color, is the immediate impact. It also has a porcelaneous surface with a bit more luster than most, sharp termination, and such nice geometry of the crystal. Moreover, it is standing proudly with just the right amount of matrix accent for contrast (the cleavelandite blades). While not terribly expensive and certainly not big compared to many of the specimens found in this region, it is particularly beautiful and drew my eye when I saw this spring's production on sale recently by the Dorris family, who owns and works this famous claim. The style of pure clean geometric amazonite crystals nestled in white cleavelandite is a reminder of the famous Keyhole Pocket from the mid 1980s, with a similar aesthetic. I feel like we have waited 40 years for another find of that classic style! It is perhaps my favorite miniature of many I saw, because of the special aesthetics, and a very favorable price direct from the folks who mined it. By the way as an additional point in favor, it has no repairs or restorations (although acceptable, and many have repairs; it is always better without, when possible).
