Here is a shockingly intense, multicolored and robust, perfectly terminated, gemmy to translucent crystal of Liddicoatite-Elbaite from Madagascar. The bottom two-thirds of this alluring crystal is a deep, translucent olive green with some reddish highlights in places, and the top third at the steeply pyramidal termination is an intense and gemmy to translucent cranberry-magenta. The steep termination on this stout crystal is unusual as well as captivating with its complex growth geometries on its surface which are different from one face to another! Just sumptuous! This beauty has a mass of 94.96 grams. From a well known Italian mineral collector, L. Pellegrini, who was a commercial airline pilot. He had the lucky ability to simply carry minerals out in the cockpit when he flew from Asia to Italy.
