Brazil is known for many world class mineral types but great Fluorite always seemed to be lacking until the recent discovery in Espirito Santo. The color and texture of these Fluorites are outstanding. Here is gorgeous translucent, sharply zoned, aqua blue Fluorite plate loaded with numerous highly textured intergrown cubes. The Fluorite color is gradational from an outer light blue to a darker purple blue inner core. The cube faces exhibit an interesting and complex stepped growth texture that is visually engaging. The majority of the larger cubes are around 2.5 cm in size with the largest cube measuring 3.3 cm on edge. The Fluorites are in excellent condition with only some periphery wear do to extraction. The base is mostly flat where the Fluorites grew against an unknown mineral (we assume, amazonite feldspar). Direct backlighting tends to lighten the colors whereas side lighting produces the richest, almost glacial looking, intense blues. Just an incredible and mesmerizing color in person.
