Vanadinite on Baryte
While vanadinite is a common enough species on the market, this is a particularly nice specimen with the really coke-can red color, and sparkling crystals of the highest glassiness perched on white abryte. It is a classic style, found really only a few times. Also, from the mid-collection number in the 57000s, we know this is a somewhat older piece in the Pohl collection. She had a particular love of Morocco and Moroccan minerals. Crystals here reach 1.3 cm. it is not particularly large or fancy in style, but it is really beautiful - with a luster and sparkle that modern specimens still coming out of the region simply do not possess! The old ones really do stand out. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 57062
