This very aesthetic two-toned pseudomorph from Yangshuo is embellished with a ridge of crystals from one end to the other. Divergent and stellate groups consist of prismatic crystals from less than a centimeter up to 2 cm that display a yellow-green core and a complementary powder blue-green exterior. All of the crystals display a delicate silky luster. This color diversity represents partial replacement of Pyromorphite by Plumbogummite largely restricted to the exterior. In fact, the backside of the piece shows mostly intact yellow-green Pyromorphite with only minor replacement at the base of the crystals. The crystals are emplaced on an an off-white and mocha silica matrix, also providing great contrast. This piece does not have the more common, extreme hopper growth at the terminations that is more typical of this occurrence which makes this piece more unique. Unusual and fine! Superb, for the condition as well, as most in this size show damage. Ex. Matt McGill and Mike Harkness collections.
