Description
A surprisingly heavy sphere because it contains a massive single floating pyrite crystal within! This shocking quartz sphere contains a complete nearly 2 inch (5cm) crystal of pyrite with a clear pyritohedron shape. It is perfect and centered nicely for viewing. Although the quartz is nicely colorless, it is not the clearest. It does have veils and some inclusions, but there are still several great display angles. A rare, large, well-formed inclusion from modern finds in Zambia, this came out of a high-level private collection of spheres. For a diagram of pyrite crystals, see here: https://www.geologyin.com/2019/10/crystal-habits-and-forms.html. 535 grams
