Wow, this Prehnite cluster from the Jeffrey Mine has absolutely stout and huge crystals for the species! Several lustrous and translucent prismatic, pyramidal crystals of Prehnite to an amazing 2.5 cm across are clustered in parallel growth displaying rare, textbook crystal forms! Prehnite as a species seems to rarely form in what we would call "sharp discrete crystals" as opposed to gorgeous ball-like aggregates and rolling plates like we have listed elsewhere in this update. These big crystals have a delicately, translucent, light golden, yellow-tan color and the individual crystals are highlighted by some golden brown iron staining that is also present on two of the prism faces of one of the largest crystals. Big, lustrous and translucent crystals like this are very rare for Jeffrey specifically and in nature in general, especially in such fine crystals, and from old finds (1970s-1980s)!
