Isolated crystals of gemmy, emerald green fluorite from the Rogerley quarry is difficult to find, as most specimens are found in plates. However, this discovery at the Diana Maria mine featured some specimens with incomplete white aragonite coatings, allowing for the possibility of specimens like this one. This small cabinet features a central cluster of fluorite up to 1.5cm, only partially coated in white aragonite, with the majority of the remainder of the specimen completely covered. This coating makes this cluster a wonderful focal point – like the first new plant growth after a snowy winter. On one face of this cluster, there is some remaining aragonite from where the coating broke off. In addition, around the outer edges there are damaged crystals due to extraction and trimming, which is typical. Like all fluorite from the quarry, this specimen has exceptional purple daylight and UV fluorescence. A unique example that is sure to impress!
