A beautiful, lustrous and large, rich pink-red ruby crystal from Bill Larson's Burma collection - of full miniature size! This nearly 2 inch gemmy to translucent, elongate, nearly hexagonal crystal has sharp crystal faces and edges with subtle triangular to linear growth hillocks on both sides. It has a shocking color in person, almost neon, and quite unusual. If not for the deep red fluorescence, you would think it a pink sapphire. This glowing hot pink crystal exhibits broad terminations on both sides with a bright adamantine luster. The crystal is highly translucent overall with distinct gem areas within that help radiate its gorgeous color! Not to be confused with a sapphire which has less red tones and generally does not have the hillock patterns you see here, this is actually somewhat more rare than either the common red ruby or the common pink sapphire, and has the luster and visual impact of a fine miniature that can stand on its own. This beauty has a mass of 24.9 grams.
