A large, sparkling Prehnite botryoid and a few smaller ones comprise this charming miniature from the one of the more prominent traprock quarries in Connecticut. All of the slender Prehnite crystals comprise radially divergent, spherical aggregates that take on an attractive pale yellow-green green color with the exteriors scintillating from any incident light. The large botryoid (ball shape) centered on the piece measures 3 cm across, and the smaller, less distinct ones 0.8 to 1.3 cm in maximum dimension. They are just slightly translucent around their edges just to the point of being able to faintly see vestiges of the underlying matrix. A lovely prehnite from notable US locale. Color is unusual, the size and condition from here is unusual, and it displays well. We were told by Charlie that he self-collected them long ago (though I cannot recall which year). This specimen is likely a pseudomorph/epimorph after analcime.
