What an unusual and aesthetic miniature consisting of globular, almost melted looking, translucent, pinkish to pinkish lavender, very sculptural looking Chalcedony from the Mogok Valley Zone. The globules are very distinct and smooth on the piece from the larger ones that are up to 2 cm across, to the smallest ones that are on the order of a few millimeters. The color is fairly uniform with some areas having cloudy, almost ethereal whitish zones that add contrast and interest. The overall effect of the rounded, elongate globules with their surreal shape and arrangement and their captivating translucent pink-lavender color is sublime and almost otherworldly! Bill noted on his label that there pseudomorphs of the Chalcedony after another mineral. Close scrutiny reveals that these pseudomorphs are complete and the form of the pre-existing mineral are cubic and may have been Fluorite, in fact, one looks like an interpenetration twin! So - a bizarre specimen in so many ways, also from a great locality!
