Here is a remarkable Quartz faden from Switzerland out of the Brent Lockhart collection; remarkable for its size, quality, and that it is without repair. The faden is composed of four primary crystals and a several smaller ones. The larger crystals vary in size from 5.5 to 8.7 cm in length and all of the crystals are essentially completely transparent, yet have have areas of ethereal turbidity for added attractiveness. The four crystals overlap somewhat along their length and are oriented in an ever so slight divergence that imparts a slight curvature to the piece. Each of the component crystals are doubly terminated and all of the smaller sidecar crystals are terminated as well. The fuzzy white "faden string" can be seen subtly within all of the larger crystals and seems to thread its way through them (for a good article on faden quartz, search online to find many attempts to explain how these bizarre forms develop!). A truly gorgeous and captivating faden Quartz from Switzerland where this type of Quartz is not common. From the well-known Brent Lockhart Swiss minerals collection (which we purchased in 2021).
