Actinolite is a relatively common rock forming mineral, but to find sharp, terminated, gemmy crystals like this is not common - let alone from Burma. This Actinolite crystal measures over two inches in length and is of classic bladed prismatic form with vertically striated faces and a great termination on one end. There is also a slightly smaller, 1.5 inch sidecar Actinolite crystal in parallel growth. The coloration is sublime going from a transparent to translucent dark green through the long axis of the crystal that gradually transitions laterally into a transparent, medium green out to the edges. The long edges of the crystal by the way are almost sharp enough to shave with! Beautiful bright green internal reflections are evident in any orientation! This Actinolite crystal has a mass of 6.93 grams.
