Clustered together on matrix are a few highly lustrous and translucent, neon blue crystals of liroconite to 6 mm in length. They are razor sharp and beautiful - all the more so against the matrix. This specimen is from Wheal Gorland in Cornwall, England, which has produced the finest of this species. Liroconite is a very rare copper species found in upper oxidized zones of just a few deposits, but most notably this is the TYPE LOCALITY and is nearly 200 years old - as must be this specimen. We obtained this long ago in a collection, sold it, and recently reacquired it. While there are larger crystals, out there, I have always liked the balanced look of this piece. It is hard to find a "large" thumbnail of the material.
