Botryoidal rhodochrosite is rare enough, and only occurs in large form from a few locations such as Japan and....rarely, Kazakhstan. We do not see many minerals from Kazakhstan, although surely they exist and the mineral collecting economy (or rather, niche side-economy) has not percolated into the mining regions and people as yet. This is literally one of the few "Kazakhstan classics" we can think of, but they tend to be old and we do not see many good ones for sale. This is from the Bill Logan rhodochrosite collection and is one of the larger and finer examples we have seen. He acquired it from a Russian mineral dealer in the 1990s or early 2000s.
