From a now infamous and unique pocket back around 2009, this is a stunning "small" example from a find where most were large plates without such separation of the purple fluorite upon the green. This pocket featured, uniquely, curved purple fluorite octoheda showing a gorgeous grape juice color at their best (as this is), on contrasting green fluorite. The best associations from this pocket, to me, are the balanced examples of isolated and perfect curved fluorite (in this case to 4 cm) atop a crystallized ball of the deep green colored fluorite. No Damage, and nearly complete all around - just slightly contacted in back. Glorious color on this textbook-looking specimen! It is, to my taste, one of the finest overall of the pocket in any size (if not the most expensive...big ones commanded huge prices at the time). For the size, it IS the best I know of (and I was on the ground in China buying, and along with a competitor handled perhaps 90 percent or more of the good ones, so I have context). This specimen was sold to a new collector at that time (Gawan Fiore) who has since traded it back to me. Why is it here with the Wayne Thompson Fluorite Collection update? I literally had it with me to show him to sell to him for his collection, composed of such choice miniature/small cabinet pieces, in my hands, the moment he surprised me and told me he had just that day decided to sell the bulk of his prized fluorite collection. So, I felt this was THE ONE for him of this unique style, for his refined taste and collection; and I still do. I consider it an honorary WT fluorite, because if I had arrived a day earlier to Tucson to show it to him, I know him well enough after 30 years to know that he would have bought it immediately.
